Hi there! We’re so glad you found us. Starting this blog has been a long time coming. We’re excited to finally share our journey with you- the creative process, the beautiful chaos and everything in between with expert styling tips.

22Extra Events: Where It All Began
Creativity has always been a huge part of my life and I found various ways to express it, through interior, landscape, fashion design, florist, paper crafting and cake decorating. With the support of a visionary and detail oriented mother who put so much care into celebrating family milestones and business functions, I learned early on that every event deserves its own unique touch to make guests feel welcome, valued and truly celebrated. That early hands on exposure to the full process of event planning- from vendor selection to build up, tear down and post event debriefs became an incredible foundation.

Over the years, event styling naturally became part of my daily life alongside an equally fulfilling corporate career. I was the go to for friends, family and colleagues needing help organising occasions , home projects or personal styling. Unofficially, I’d become a lifestyle consultant- planner, stylist, personal shopper and handy woman all rolled into one. It was truly an honour and the best part? Seeing their faces light up when everything came together.

A Love Affair with Transformations 

One of my absolute favourite things to do is transforming spaces, dreaming up new ways to style and decorate them. We’ve had the joy of styling beautiful venues including Scottish castles and stately homes. It’s always immediately obvious that those stunning settings deserve equally exquisite details.

I once worked with with a bride who had a crystal clear vision for her day but we couldn’t find the right pieces to make it happen locally. The wedding ended up logistically easier as a destination event. I’d typically source furniture and decor outside Scotland, but it wasn’t sustainable. Those instances highlighted a gap in the market: there wasn’t enough hire ware available locally to support the kind of events some of the people I knew were dreaming of. That realisation planted the seed for something bigger.

Building the Dream

A few life twists and a temporary step away from the corporate world created the natural next step to turn a long standing passion into a business. Style In Detail, Event Hire was born. I knew that people needed to see the pieces, not just flip through a photo album. And so we invested in a showroom where clients can explore, get inspired and get hands on with our collection.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing. Being first to offer this kind of curated hire ware service had its share of early hurdles. When we first introduced trendy items like coloured glassware, statement chairs, decorative plates and plated cutlery, many industry professionals pointed out that they were too niche for the broader local market. The prevailing mindset leaned toward safe, standard packages with white linen, standard crockery, chair covers with sashes and a touch of greenery.

A few couples who loved everything in the showroom ultimately opted for conventional pieces because they didn’t want to be seen to show off. And that’s okay. I believe people should invest in spaces that feel true to them.

Today, attitudes have shifted. Thoughtfully styled events are no longer viewed as excessive but embraced as expressions of personality and meaningful ways to celebrate life’s most special moments.

Where We Are Now

We started out primarily as an event hire warehouse providing distinctive furniture, tableware and decor for industry professionals and private clients. Our foundational service- Style In Detail UK continues to offer this Dry Hire Service via it’s dedicated website.

Initially, our amazing in house creative team focused on developing design concepts and tables capes for our clients behind the scenes. Now with a solid system in place, we’ve proudly taken on a more visible, hands on role in delivering something truly special: a seamless end to end styling experience.

With our extensive and ever evolving inventory, a dedicated design studio, an experienced team and strong professional networks, we’re able to dream big and deliver even bigger no matter the theme or vision. At the heart of everything we do, our key driver continues to be a passionate desire to create beauty, spark joy and help you celebrate life’s moments with meaning.
